Helen F. Behrends

Helen F. Behrends, 87, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Tuesday, February 7, 2006, in her home.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Casey Wells officiating. Burial is in National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice or South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, where she was a member.

The former Helen Frances Moore was born August 14, 1918, in Kempton, Illinois, the daughter of Chester and Addie (Rony) Moore. She married Harold William Behrends on June 15, 1941, in Kempton. He died January 30, 1991. She had been a bookkeeper at Kempton Grain Elevator and A. D. Husing, Rock Island, and previously worked in civil service in Chicago during WW II and at the Kellogg factory in Battle Creek, Michigan. She enjoyed gardening , cooking, and dancing.

Helen is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lesa Behrends and Dr. Brent Nielsen of Coal Valley; a son and daughter-in-law, Curt and Cyndi Behrends of East Moline; two grandchildren, Jon Behrends and his wife Kelly and Marisa Behrends; a sister, LaVon Wright of Angleton, Texas; and a brother, Marvin Moore of Peoria, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and brothers, Charlie and Johnnie Moore.
