Helen D. Kushlakus

Helen D. Kushlakus, 85, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.

Visitation is 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2018, at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. A time of sharing will follow at 11:30 a.m., led by Helen's son, Billy. Those wishing to share stories are welcome to do so. Cremation will take place prior to services at Trimble Crematory, with private burial at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Black Hawk Area Special Education District Playground Fund or Leader Dogs for the Blind.

The former Helen Dolly Miljush was born June 19, 1932, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Joe and Helen (Comer) Miljush. She married William Kushlakus on July 9, 1949, in Omaha. He died March 30, 2009.

Helen was the office manager for Moline Auto Sales for over 30 years, and then for Courtesy Nissan until retiring in 1993. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. She was an excellent cook, teaching her son how to make roast beef, steak, turkey, etc. She was a very social person who never met a stranger and could talk to them about anything. Above all else, she loved her family, and was quick to embrace new family members.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Gary Wolbers of Moline; a son and daughter-in-law, William "Billy" and Maria Kushlakus of Round Lake Beach, Illinois; a granddaughter, Tabatha Kushlakus; a sister, Dorothy Pokrajac of Moline; a sister-in-law, Darlene Akins of Moline; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; and siblings, Mildred Macik, Mary Taggart, Julie Ballan, Milo Miljush, and Stanley Miljush.
