Hazel E. Albrecht

Hazel E. Albrecht, 89, of Moline, Illinois, former Moline teacher, died Saturday, December 2, 2006, in her home.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Estates, Moline. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

The former Hazel Emma Morgan was born July 18, 1917, in York, Nebraska, the daughter of J. C. and Pearl (Foulk) Morgan. She married Richard A. Albrecht on September 7, 1951, in Baltimore, Maryland. He died October 28, 1993.

She was employed by Moline School District #40 as a fifth grade teacher at Betsey Ross Elementary School in Coal Valley for 12 years, retiring in 1978. She was organist at First Baptist Church, Davenport, for ten years, and had worked at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and at the Rock Island Arsenal.

She was past president of Church Women United and Moline Federation of Teachers, a member of Retired Teachers Association, American Guild of Organists, and Popular Astronomy Club, and a former member of Union Congregational Church, Moline, and the Adettes Circle. She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters and traveling.

Hazel is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Ann and James Ed Sullivan of Rock Island, and Marlo Albrecht of Moline; two granddaughters, Brittany Morgan Tatman and Melissa Anna Tatman; a step-granddaughter, Stephanie Carroll; two step-great-grandchildren, Heather and Hayden Carroll; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Nancy Morgan of San Manuel, Arizona; and a sister-in-law, Eloise Morgan of Tucson, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Clifford Morgan.
