Carol A. Willis, 68, of East Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, in Trinity Pathway Hospice at Trinity Bettendorf, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, 601 21st Street, Moline, Illinois. Graveside services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, Illinois.
The former Carol Ann Collinson was born February 25, 1943, in Rock Falls, Illinois, the daughter of Lloyd and Blanche Stout Collinson. She graduated from Black Hawk College and married James S. Willis on August 29, 1981, in Rock Island. She was a police dispatcher for 22 years for the Illinois State Police, Rock Falls Police, Rock Island County Sheriff, and Rock Island City Police. At the age of 54, she went to college for her nursing degree, and was a Registered Nurse at Trinity, retiring in 2008 due to illness. She loved helping people, enjoyed knitting and her pet bulldogs.
Carol is survived by her husband, James; her mother, Blanche Collinson of Rock Falls; two children and their spouses, Theresa and Larry Chaves of Roy, Washington, and John and Lena Downing of Andalusia, Illinois; step-children and their spouses, Jeff and Gina Willis and Angela and Dale Appel, all of Thompson, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers. She was preceded in death by her father and a daughter, Kathy Booher.
