Harvey J. Oberhardt, 92, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, shortly after arrival at Illini Hospital, Silvis.
Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Harvey John Oberhardt was born July 30, 1913, in Chicago, the son of Pat and Marie (VandeWalle) Oberhardt. He married Ruth Mikolsek on July 1, 1939, in Chicago. She died May 29, 1996. He was a tool and die maker at John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, for 30 years, retiring in 1976.
He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, was an avid reader and gardener, and enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Hawaii.
Harvey is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Katherine Oberhardt of Normal, Illinois, and Jerry and Lorrie Oberhardt of East Moline; five grandchildren, Marcy Louis of Loves Park, Illinois, Kathy Oberhardt of Coal Valley, Kris Petrick of West Chicago, Meghan Whitlock of Silvis, and Nate Oberhardt of East Moline; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Michael Oberhardt, and a brother, William Oberhardt.
