Harvey "Al" Henderson

March 16, 1949 — October 4, 2024

Coal Valley, Illinois

Harvey “Al” Henderson, 75, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Friday, October 4, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport, Iowa.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, Coal Valley.

Harvey Alan Henderson was born March 16, 1949, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Harvey and Barbara (Halferty) Henderson. He worked in machine repair and maintenance at the John Deere Parts Distribution Center in Milan for over 30 years. Previously, he had worked for Iowa/Illinois Gas & Electric.

Harvey was an active and devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he made many friends.

Harvey’s true passion in life was cars. Over the years, he skillfully worked on and rebuilt many vehicles, pouring his heart into each project. He found joy in watching and attending car shows and races, particularly drag, sprint and stock car races, where his enthusiasm and knowledge were evident to all.

A kind-hearted soul, Al never met a stranger. He had an innate ability to connect with people, making friends wherever he went. His generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand were hallmarks of his character; he would drop everything to support a friend in need.

Harvey is survived by a daughter, Dawn Henderson of Davenport; two grandchildren, Jacob and Kristena Watters; a great-grandson, Khamani; a sister, Alice (Pat) Versluis of Moline; two nieces, Tracy (Tim) Hatfield and Jody Day; and his beloved fiancé, Ginger Rossell of Coal Valley, and her children, Tim and Terisa Rossell. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Pam Henderson and Brenda Jones; and a great-granddaughter, Khamaya Donelson.
