Harvey C. Brock I, 87, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Friday, April 19, 2024, at home.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. A celebration of life will be held at a later date at City Limits Bar, Viola, Illinois.

Harvey Charles Brock I was born January 19, 1937, to Glenn and Nina (Shippy) Brock, in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1955. He married Lila Mae Kirgin in November of 1958, and she passed away in 1960. He then married Kathryn Ferrell in August of 1960, and later got divorced in 1977. His last wife, Bernice Melbin, he married in June of 1979, and she died in February of 2005. 

Harvey was a member of the Army National Guard, completing basic training at Camp McCoy before going on to join the II battalion of the 337th infantry regiment of Illinois Luster Division. For a career, He worked as a truck driver for Eagles foods for over 30 years. He enjoyed reading, sitting outdoors, and ditch hopping. 

Harvey is survived by his son, Harvey “Chuck” Brock II; his granddaughter and caretaker, Katie (Don) Hoteling; his grandchildren Zachary Hoteling, Austin Hoteling, and Hunter Hoteling; his sister, Roberta West; many nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Brock. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Beth Duncalf; his son, Brien Brock; his parents, Glenn and Nina Brock; his brothers, Joe Brock, Cecil Brock, Bill Brock, and Burt Brock; and his sister, Frances Thurman.
