Ruby C. Hill Wenos, 90, of Rock Island, Illinois, formerly of Moline, died peacefully in the arms of her children on Saturday, October 27, 2007, in Trinity West Medical Center, Rock Island.
Services will be at Noon on Tuesday, October 30th, at First United Presbyterian Church, Moline. Visitation will precede the service from 10 a.m. to Noon. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Estates, Moline, following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to the Don and Ruby Wenos Christian Education Fund at First United Presbyterian Church. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family.
Ruby C. Hill was born on July 3, 1917 in Moline, Illinois. She was the daughter of Walter R. and LaVilla M. (Smith) Hill. Ruby graduated from Moline High School and Rock Island Business College.
In June, 1940, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Donald E. Wenos, former owner and operator of River Drive Radio and TV. Mr. Wenos passed away on March 28, 2007. Ruby and Don had two daughters, Sally J. Garvin and Marjorie L. Watkins, both of Marion, Iowa.
Ruby was formerly employed by Dimock & Gould, Moline, and the Moline Board of Education, retiring in 1982. Ruby was an active member of First United Presbyterian Church, Moline, a former Deacon, Sunday School-teacher and choir member. She also was a member of the King's Daughters, and resided for the past five years at Friendship Manor, Rock Island. Ruby was an avid reader, and enjoyed card games and her daily crossword puzzle.
¬Ruby is survived by her daughters, Sally J. Garvin and Marjorie L. (Robert) Watkins, Marion, Iowa; 6 grandchildren and spouses: Lynn (Ray) Diaz, Jeffrey (Rene) Smith, Fort Worth, Texas; Diann Daggs, Bristol, Tennessee; Timothy (Jennifer) Kiser, Marion, Iowa; Jennifer (Darin) Sharp, Highland Village, Texas; and Wendy (Corey) Blackledge, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Also surviving are 12 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, her parents, a brother, Walter R. Hill, Jr., and a sister, Georgia Irwin.
