Laura Brien, 83, of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Services are Noon Tuesday at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 111 Church St., Hartland, Wisconsin, with a luncheon immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church, or the Alzheimer's Association.
The former Hanna Laura Wrobel was born April 5, 1932, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Karl and Ida (Will) Wrobel. She married Quinten Norman Brien on November 1, 1952, in Milwaukee. He died August 16, 2014.
She worked as secretary for the Milwaukee Public Schools School Board, as well as various Milwaukee Public Schools.
Laura is survived by three children, Christine and Karlis Vecitis; sons, David Brien and Amy Dillon, and Karl and Dawn Brien; daughters-in-law, Sharon and Kevin Zagrodnik, and Sharon Hoffman; grandchildren, Chad and Katy Vecitis, Laura Vecitis and P.J. Allen, Stephanie and Mike Eckl, Kyle Vecitis, Jennifer and Reid Trimble, Riley Brien, Jacquelyn and Jeff Romlein, Harley Brien, Amanda and Ryan Stultz, and Diane Brien; step-granddaughters, Nicky Hense and Lauren Michelz; great-grandchildren, Olivia Allen, Tucker, Claire, and Graham Trimble, and Jeffrey William Romlein, Jr. who made Laura a proud great-grandmother just hours prior to her passing; and a sister, Ruth and Bruce Goulet. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62-years, Quinten Brien, and her son, Thomas Brien.
