Dorothy H. Hoskins, 90, a life-long resident of Coal Valley, Illinois, died unexpectedly Friday, December 5, 2008, in Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.
Services are 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Tim Snart officiating. Visitation is 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley.
Dorothy Anderson was born September 6, 1918 Coal Valley, the daughter of Harry H. and Annie (Linn) Anderson. She married Vernon Lloyd Hoskins on April 21, 1938, in Clinton, Iowa. He died July 12, 2008. She was educated in Coal Valley schools and was employed at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley, and the Coal Valley Post Office. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, and Moline Conservation Club.
Dorothy is survived by a son, Vernon Hoskins of Coal Valley; daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Jeff Hast of New Windsor, Illinois, Jean and Ed Beard of Coal Valley, and Kathy and Leo Crane and Judy Blankenship, all of Moline; a daughter-in-law, Sherry Hoskins of Coal Valley; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Marvin Anderson of Coal Valley; and a sister, Betty Sievers of Orion. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Jon Hoskins; a daughter, Sandra Hoskins: and brothers, Clinton and Harry J. Anderson.
