David H. Collins, 63, of Moline, Illinois, a decorated Army Veteran, died on Veterans Day, Thursday, November 11, 2010, in Trinity Rock Island.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hope United Church of Christ, Moline, with The Reverend A. Parker Lewis III officiating. Entombment is in Greenview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church. A luncheon will be provided at the church following the committal.
David Hart Collins was born November 15, 1946, in Moline, the son of Raymond LeRoy and Irma Sylvia Hart Collins. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War, and earned a Combat Infantry Badge and the Purple Heart for wounds received in action on June 20, 1967. He married Judith Dodd on December 30, 1967, in Moline. He was an assembler for Case IH and its predecessors for 36 years, retiring in 2001.
He was a member of Hope United Church of Christ. He loved his grandchildren, and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, NASCAR, and the Chicago Bears.
Dave is survived by his wife, Judy; two sons, Jeff D. Collins and his wife Krista of Coal Valley, and Eric B. Collins of Milan; two grandsons, Jackson and Ryan Collins; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Ed Meyers of Winter Haven, Florida, and Linda and Chuck Buyck of Geneseo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Yvonne Fulton.
