H. Allen Bivens

Aledo, Illinois Funeral Services for H. Allen Bivens, 95, of Aledo will be Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Hamlet Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home, with Masonic Services at 8:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County Nursing Home. Allen died on Friday, May 17, 2002 at the Mercer County Hospital. Allen was born November 8, 1906, in Nichols, Iowa, the son of John and Ruby (Marston) Bivens. He married Mildred Miller on May 17, 1927 in Aledo. She preceded him in death on April 4, 1991. Allen farmed in both Mercer and Rock Island Counties. He also worked in Aircraft Factories in California and a wire factory in Indiana. He attended the Antioch Baptist Church in Marston and was a member of the former Aledo Men's Club. Allen was a 50 year member of the Buffalo Prairie Masonic Lodge #679, AF & AM. Allen is survived by 2 daughters and son-in-law: Florence Castrey of Sun City, CA and Ethel and Don Welch of Aledo; 3 sons: Herbert A. Bivens, Jr. of Little York, Frederick Bivens of Sun City, CA and Phillip Bivens of Ontario, CA; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Navola Schmidt of Aledo and a brother and sister-in-law, William and Seville Bivens of Aledo. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 3 daughters, Mary Armstrong, Elizabeth''Betty'' Litwiler and Sharon Nicely; a daughter-in-law, Roberta Bivens; sisters; Mary Hauck, Leona Elliott and Minerva Coltrane and brothers; John L., Richard and Raymond G.
