Grant A. Cobb, 95, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, January 2, 2021, in his home.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 4107 21st Avenue, Moline, with The Rev. Dr. Wilfred Karsten officiating. East Moline American Legion Post #227 will present military honors at the church prior to the funeral. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to the church or a favorite charity. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is in charge of arrangements.
Grant Andy Cobb was born March 15, 1925, in Moline, to Grant and Goldie (Anderson) Cobb. He graduated from Moline High School in 1943, and served in the US Navy aboard LST-517 in the North Atlantic during the D-Day Invasion. He married Elizabeth Hintz Broksieck on August 12, 1967, in Moline. He was a mail carrier for the Moline Post Office, retiring in 1987.
Grant was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline, National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 318, and East Moline American Legion Post #227 for 75 years.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth: daughter, Lois Genz of East Moline; and granddaughter, Kathy Genz Sotelo, great-granddaughters, Meagan Kranich and Sarah Sotelo, and great-great-grandson, Wyatt Kranich, all of California.
