Gladys I. Carver

Rock Island, Illinois Gladys I. Carver, 90, of Rock Island, formerly of Aledo, died Thursday, October 18, 2001 at Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island. Funeral Services will be Saturday at 10:00 AM at Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo. Burial will be in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 PM and one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Swedona Lutheran Church or Friendship Manor. Gladys was born on April 28, 1911 in Keithsburg, Illinois to Ben F. and Eleanor (Thompson) Parkinson. She married Robert Lewis Carver in 1932 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death in 1975. She married Marion F. Carver in 1987. He preceded her in death. Gladys worked beside her husband, Robert, on their farm near Matherville and was a cook at the Mercer County Nursing Home for many years. She enjoyed gardening, particularly flowers; was a great cook, especially her pies. Gladys was a devoted mother and grandmother. Gladys is survived by a daughter and son-in-law; Ann and George Bendt of Davenport; 3 sons and daughters-in-law: Robert and LaVone Carver of Milan, Kenneth L. and Renée Carver of Milan and James R. Carver of Moline; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; a daughter, Florence in 1960 and a grandson, Kevin R. Carver.
