Giovina Maria Rogers

Moline, Illinois Services for Giovina M. Rogers, 66 of Moline, are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Burial is in National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Rogers died Saturday, May 26, 2001, in Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island. The former Giovina Matese was born February 17, 1935, in Chicago Heights, Illinois, the daughter of Louis and Josephine (Fazio) Matese. She married Eugene K. Rogers on January 10, 1959, in Joliet. She was housing manager for Highland Manor and Sanders Apartments in Moline for several years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Certified Housing Management Association. She was involved with breast cancer support groups, and volunteered for Runway for the Cure and Race for the Cure. Giovina is survived by her husband, Eugene; two daughters and sons-in-law, Clarisa and Eugene Jr. Mattecheck of Moline, and Diana and F. Dwayne Helling of Orion; five grandsons, Ian W. Dunsworth, Chase R. Mattecheck, and Zachary E., Nicholas C., and Lucas N. Helling; her mother, Josephine "Josie" Matese of Silvis; and a brother, Joseph L. Matese of Moline. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Joseph Matese. END OF OBITUARY
