Geraldine Shelton

Geraldine Shelton, 87, of Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013, in her home.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2014, in Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

The former Geraldine Pope was born April 11, 1926, in Webster Groves, Missouri, the daughter of Walter and Adele Graf Pope. She married John L. Shelton on May 15, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri. He died July 24, 2000. Prior to her marriage, she was an artist at S. G. Adams and D'Arcy Advertising. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Quad City Sweet Adelines, and Independent Order of Foresters. She enjoyed singing, cooking, sewing, knitting, and doing cross word puzzles.

Geraldine is survived by seven children and their spouses, Sue Wild and her husband Ken Stanchi of Labelle, Florida, Tony and Sherry Shelton of Lake George, Colorado, Nancy and Jim Whittaker of Cordova, Tennessee, Judith Shelton of Memphis, Tennessee, and Jeff Shelton, Ken Shelton, and Keith and Ericka Shelton, all of Moline; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson, and her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Bud Held.
