Gerald L. Reed

Gerald L. Reed, 87, of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at New Perspective Senior Living, Silvis, Illinois.

Graveside services are 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 10, at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Those wishing to attend should meet in the parking lot at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, at 11:15 a.m. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. 

Gerald Leroy Reed was born July 31, 1937, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Marvin and Dorothy (Chrisman) Reed. He married Janet Randall on October 4, 1958, in Ipswich, England. She died November 23, 2008. 

Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years, retiring as a Technical sergeant. His main duties were as Assistant Transportation Officer at the Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, California. In retirement, he enjoyed watching western movies, fishing and cooking.

Jerry is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Lori Reed of East Moline, Illinois; three granddaughters, Leslie Reed, Tamara (Nathanial) Just, and Traci (Brandon) Hollenback; four great-grandchildren, Miles and Leo Just, and Hailey and Reed Hollenback; and a sister, Shelly Pickens of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janet Reed; a son, Neal Reed; and a sister, Alice Hope.
