Gerald Gabriel, 87, of Moline, Illinois, long-time Moline businessman, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 12, 2021, in Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, Illinois.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, 1611 41st Street, Moline, with Dr. Mark Gehrke officiating. Visitation is one hour before the service. Friends are invited to join the family at a funeral luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe following the service. Burial with military honors will be Monday at Rock Island National Cemetery. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the church.
Gerald Maurice Gabriel was born March 13, 1934, in Kewanee, Illinois, to Maurice and Florence (Hallock) Gabriel. He served in the US Air Force from 1953 to 1957, and married Nancy Pitcher on September 17, 1960, in Moline. He started working as a union carpenter while in high school. After his military service, he was co-owner of G & G Missile Service Station. In 1963, he and his wife started Jerry’s 23rd Avenue TV in Moline. In 1992, the couple purchased Warren Electronic Distributing and at one time had five stores in Sterling, Burlington, Dubuque, Davenport and Moline.
Jerry attended Faith Lutheran Church, Moline, and a former member of the Moline Elks Lodge and Crime Stoppers. He loved electronics, which was his hobby as well as his career.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy, and his half-sister, Sharon A. Grant of Schaumberg, Illinois, and eight nieces and nephews and their families.
