Gerald D. "Jerry" Taylor, 93, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, August 14, 2014, in his home.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at First Presbyterian Church, 801 16th Street, Moline, with The Reverend Dr. Gregory Graybill officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is one hour before the services at the church. Memorials may be made to the church, where he was a member. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is in charge of arrangements.
Gerald David Taylor was born June 2, 1921, in Lucas, Iowa, to David and Ellen Gwinn Taylor. He married Florence C. West in 1943, in Kahoka, Missouri. She died August 14, 1990. He was a mechanic at Reynolds Motors, East Moline, for 15 years, and also worked as a machinist at Hansaloy Manufacturing, Montgomery Elevator, and Moline Tool.
Jerry is survived by sisters, Floy Burley and her husband Robert, Nell Hensley, and Mary Lou Hickerson, all of Chariton, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; his daughter, Mary Helen Taylor;, sisters, Doris Winsor, Marie Reaves, Frances Reid, Florence Brown, and Laura Viaro Hite; and brothers, Roy Gray and Randall Gray.
