George Pagakis

George Pagakis, 64, of East Moline, Illinois, died Monday, August 5, 2013, at Rosewood Health Care Center, East Moline, Illinois, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Friday at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Those wishing to attend should meet at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, at 1:45 p.m. A gathering celebrating George?s life is from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the VFW Post 8890, 1810 1st Street, East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

George was born January 31, 1949, in Ottawa, Illinois, the son of John and Amelia Pagakis. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

At different times, he worked for Degreve Oil Change in East Moline, National Railway, and the City of East Moline. He enjoyed fishing, and was an artist and writer. He was a Chicago Bears fan and a devoted father and friend.

George is survived by his children, Christina Pagakis of Prairie Du Sac, Wisconsin, Amanda Pagakis, and Nathan Pagakis, both of East Moline; a grandson, Drew; a special friend, Kathy Inskeep of East Moline; and his best friend of many years, Kevin Jones of Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Wayne Coverdill and John Pagakis.
