George A. Hesse

George A. Hesse, Jr., 74, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, March 4, 2019, in his residence.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at Community of Christ Church, 1525 48th Street Place, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Memorials may be made to Rescued, Moline.

George was born July 24, 1944, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to George Andrew and Elizabeth (Stevenson) Hesse. He moved to Iowa at age 14, and graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1962. He married Valerie Smiddy on April 2, 1978. George was a employed by J.I. Case and Sears Manufacturing, retiring in 2001. He enjoyed hockey, was an Iowa Hawkeye fan, and had been involved in Moline Little League, where he held many positions including coach.

George is survived by his wife, Valerie; two sons, Paul Hesse and Joey Hesse, both of Moline; a daughter-in-law, Lynsy Hesse of Rock Island; six grandchildren, Kylie, Aaliyah, Andrew, Hailey, Ryan, and Emery Hesse; a sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Lyn Melton of Florence, Alabama, and of course, his "girls" Ginger and Jazzy. He was preceded in death by his son, Jason Hesse, and his parents.
