Genevieve E. "Gen" Paton, 93, of East Moline, Illinois, passed gently from Earthly life into the loving arms of God on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.
A funeral service celebrating Gen's life will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Hope United Church of Christ, Moline, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church.
Gen was born November 5, 1922, in Tonica, Illinois, the daughter of Willis and Kathryn (Hasselman) Stauffacher. She married Richard K. Paton on January 16, 1944, in Peru, Illinois. He died April 7, 2006.
She worked 25 years for People's Furniture in Moline.
Gen was a very active member of Hope UCC, where she served as President of the church council and played in the bell choir. She enjoyed many hobbies, including sewing, gardening, crafting, and music. She loved her family and church dearly.
Those remaining to grieve her passing include her children, Judy and Herbert "Bryan" Crompton of Sherrard, Illinois, Laura and Ronnie Brown of Erie, Illinois, and Jeffrey and Cynthia Paton of Kuna, Idaho; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Kathy and Rev. Parker Lewis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, a son, Ricky Paton, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Crompton.
The family gratefully thanks the staff of Hope Creek Care Center for their professional and loving care of Gen.
