Genevieve A. Deroo

Genevieve A. DeRoo, 91, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, November 19, 2011, in Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Illinois.

Private family services will be held. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or St. Jude;s Hospitals.

Genevieve Alberta Christensen was born August 28, 1920, in the Stone House on Friendship Farm in Rock Island County, the daughter of Willie S. and Bertha Hamor Christensen. She served in the U. S. Marine Corps during WW II. She had worked as a cook at various restaurants and in maintenance at International Harvester Farmall Works, Rock Island.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Michelle DeRoo of Pembroke Pines, Florida; two grandsons, Tollar and Aaron DeRoo; four great-grandchildren; and siblings and their spouses, Eleanor and Jack Hobbs, and Robert and Betty Christensen, all of East Moline. She was preceded in death by a son, Ross DeRoo; two sisters and one brother.
