Gary A. Gillham, a proud Air Force Veteran, died Thursday, December 17, 2015, in his home, with his wife at his side.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with The Reverend Larry Conway officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Following the burial, friends are invited to join the family at a hospitality reception at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe.
Gary André Gillham was born May 27, 1942, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Clarence Leo and Eula Clyde (Adcock) Gillham. He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, and married Glenda Carol Ferrant on May 25, 1968, in Cocoa Beach, Florida. He was a civilian employee of the Department of Defense for 36 years, retiring as a Logistician for the U. S. Army Soldier's Systems Center in Natick, Massachusetts, in 2002. He was a member of the Fort Armstrong Chapter of Sons of the American Revolution and Mensa International. He loved being a granddad, supported his family during RAGBRAI several times, and enjoyed RV'ing and kite flying.
Gary is survived by his wife, Glenda; a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Jennifer Gillham of St. Louis, Missouri; a daughter, Heather Gillham Shoesmith of Hampton; two grandchildren, Erick and Summer Shoesmith.
