Garry P. Wigant

Garry P. Wigant, 62, of Albany, Illinois, died Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City.

Services will be announced at a later date. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family.

He was born March 24, 1956, in Geneseo, Illinois, the son of Leslie and Patricia (Wetzel) Wigant. He earned his bachelor's degree from Arizona State University and was a police officer for the Illinois State Police for 22 years, retiring in 2012.

He was an avid Chicago Cubs' fan and loved Miller Lite. He also enjoyed reading about history, Christmas, fishing, and was ridiculous at trivia. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Garry is survived by two daughters, Wendy Wigant of Erie, Illinois, and Anna Wigant of Albany; a son, Casey (Courtney) Wigant of Erie; his mother, Patricia Wigant of Geneseo; two granddaughters, Elena and Allison Mitchell; siblings, Mark Wigant of San Antonio, Texas, and Mike (Lois) Wigant of Geneseo; and his lifelong friend, Dawn Jones. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Les "Sandy" Wigant.
