Gail A. Gibbons

Gail A. Gibbons, 94, of Silvis, Illinois, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, January 24, 2017, in Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with The Reverend Craig Jan-McMahon officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday and one-half hour before services on Monday. Memorials may be made to First Congregational Church, Moline. Friends are invited to join the family at a funeral luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe following the burial.

Gail Barbara Aspel was born December 31, 1922, at Riceville, Iowa, to Gaylord C. and Inez Sigler Aspel. She was a graduate of Riceville High School and the Broadlawns, Polk County, Iowa, Hospital School of Nursing, becoming a qualified Registered Nurse. She married William D. Gibbons, Jr. on September 13, 1947, in Riceville. Her working career, as a Nurse, was in various Quad Cities doctor's offices, the former Lutheran Hospital in Moline and as a School Nurse in the Moline School System for 10 years, retiring in June 1986. Gail was a member of the First Congregational Church, of Moline, since 1949. During that time she was involved in various boards and committees of the church.

Survivors include her husband, Bill; children and spouses, Barbara and Tom Cavanaugh of Derry, New Hampshire, Marcia Gibbons and Jim Bolton of Lovingston, Virginia, William III and Pam Gibbons of Johnston, Iowa, and Jon Gibbons and Lucy Junus of San Francisco, California; six grandchildren and spouses, Christopher and Jennifer Zelnio, Erin Zelnio, Matthew Bolton and Juliane Nguyen, Brady Bolton, Jessica and Ryan Haugo, and Danielle and Stephen West; and one great-grandchild, Sawyer Haugo. Gail was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, James Aspel; her sister, Mary Foster; her step mother, Elizabeth St. John Aspel; and step brothers, Weldon Sigler and Owen Sigler.
