Stewart Workheiser, 92, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at his residence. Memorial Services are 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Private entombment is in Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice.
Stewart G. Workheiser was born June 1, 1915, in Viola, Illinois, the son of George and Margaret (Thompson) Workheiser. He married Mary Strickland on May 24, 1936, in Rock Island.
He worked in numberous capacities for JI Case in Rock Island for 35 years, retiring in 1975. Following his retirement, Stewart and his wife enjoyed traveling around the country in their RV. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family.
Stewart is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mary; daughters and a son-in-law, Nina Jean and Lawrence L. Hart of Milan, Illinois, and Janet Allen of Escondido, California; grandchildren and their spouses, Deborah and Patrick Cram of Rock Island, Jeffrey and June Hart of Moline, Karen Kiely and James Jaeger, Jr. of Davenport, Iowa, Thomas and Julie Allen of Escondido, Paula and Jessie Walklet of Denver, Colorado, Tim Allen and John Allen, both of Escondido; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Billy Allen, a brother, John ?Jack? Workheiser, a sister, Velma Westerfield, and a half-brother, Floyd Workheiser.
