Freddie L. Bradford, 76, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Celebrate Senior Living of Moline.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Second Baptist Church, 919 6th Avenue, Rock Island, with The Rev. Joseph D. Williamson III officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Vietnam Veterans of America Quad Cities will present military honors. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family.
Freddie Lee Bradford was born August 16, 1947, in Sibley, Louisiana, the son of Henry and Earnestine (Roscoe) Bradford. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and married Cheryl Matthews.
Freddie answered the call to duty and served his country with honor during the Vietnam War as a proud member of the U.S. Army.
A man of unwavering faith, Freddie found solace and strength in his membership at Second Baptist Church, Rock Island. His spiritual journey was a cornerstone of his character, guiding him through life's joys and challenges with grace and resilience.
In the tapestry of his interests, Freddie's love for fishing shone brightly. Whether casting a line into serene waters or sharing stories by the shore, he found tranquility and joy in the embrace of nature's beauty.
Freddie's passions extended far beyond the waters, as he found delight in the simplicity of life's pleasures. He reveled in the roar of engines in cars, cooking, watching westerns on television, and listening to music.
A devoted sports enthusiast, Freddie's heart beat with the rhythm of Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears victories and defeats. His loyalty to his teams was unwavering, a testament to his enduring spirit and love for the game.
Above all else, family was the most important thing to Freddie, with Father and Grandfather being the titles he was most proud of.
Freddie is survived by his wife, Cheryl Bradford; his children, Aaron (Katie) Matthews, Freda Matthews, Felicia (fiancé Joshua Thomas) Bradford, Fiona Bradford, and Farina Bradford; sisters, Pearl Butler and Tina Payton; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Freddie Anderson; and three grandchildren.
