Frank J. Benedict

Frank J. Benedict, Jr., 89, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, June 18, 2011, in Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, Illinois.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, 601 21st Street, Moline, Illinois. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Frank Joseph Benedict, Jr. was born May 15, 1922, in Ashland, Wisconsin, the son of Frank J. and Rose Pezackie Benedict. He married Jane Bystrom on June 5, 1942, in Davenport, Iowa. She died September 25, 1999. He was a model maker at the Rock Island Arsenal for 33 years, retiring in 1977. He had been a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Moline Elks Lodge, East End Club, and Friends Circle Club. He enjoyed golf, dancing, rolle bolle, and reading.

Frank is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank J. and Sandra Benedict and a grandson, F. Jordan Benedict, all of Chester, Illinois, and a brother, Thomas Benedict of West Chester, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter Connie Jo Benedict in infancy, and brothers, Ralph and Raymond Benedict.
