Frances Elizabeth O'Neill

Frances E. (Vance) O'Neill, age 95 of Rock Island, Illinois, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, January 24, 2003 at St. Anthony's Continuing Care Center in Rock Island. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Trimble Funeral Home in Moline, with visitation one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens in East Moline, Illinois. Memorials may be given to Riverside United Methodist Church in Moline or to First Baptist Church in Moline. The former Frances Elizabeth Vance was born on August 27, 1907 in Kewanee, Illinois the daughter of Harry J. and Mary (Carlson) Vance. She married Willard L. O'Neill on July 16, 1944 in Moline. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1996. She acquired a Bachelors Degree from Augustana College in Rock Island. Mrs. O'Neill was a teacher for over 44 years. She taught in Barstow, Illinois for two years, and spent the remaining years in Moline, retiring in 1972. Having taught at McKinley, Jefferson and Ericsson Schools. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church in Moline for over 75 years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a life member of the National Education Association, the Illinois Education Association and the Moline Education Association, Blackhawk Division of Retired Teachers, and the Kings Daughters Edith Cavell Circle. Survivors include her niece and nephew-in-law, Julie and Gary Rodell of Rock Island; a sister-in-law, Leone Lindley of East Moline, along with several cousins. A sister Margaret Vance preceded her in death.
