The Reverend Fr. James E. Marshall, 86, of Silvis, Illinois, a Priest in the Quincy Diocese of the Anglican Church of North America, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016, in OSF Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois.
A Requiem Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Christ Church, 1717 8th Avenue, Moline, with The Right Reverend J. Albert Morales celebrating. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Trimble Funeral Home, 701 12th Street, Moline, and one hour before the services at the church. Cremation will follow the service at Trimble Crematory, and entombment will be in St. Benedict's Abbey, Bartonville, Illinois. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forward In Faith NA.
James Eugene Marshall was born December 27, 1929, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to John B. and Lillian (Birdsong) Marshall. He was graduated from Southeastern Louisiana College in Hammond, Louisiana, and the School of Theology at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War.
Fr. Marshall was ordained Deacon in the Episcopal Church in 1954, and ordained Priest in the Episcopal Church in 1955. He served Episcopal churches in Louisiana and Missouri, and
several congregations in the Diocese of Quincy. He served as President of the Standing Committee during the re-alignment of the Diocese of Quincy from the Episcopal Church to the Southern Cone of the Anglican Communion. He was a faithful member and local convenor of Forward in Faith NA. He loved flying, and worked on his home-built airplane for 12 years and finally flew it in 1984. He belonged to the Radio Control Club and Moline Sky Raiders.
He is survived by a step-daughter and her husband, Katherine and Rob Hebert of Covington, Louisiana, and a nephew, John B. Marshall of Marina Del Rey, California. He was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Thomas, William Lee, and Robert Marshall.
