Forrest O. Gibbs

Moline, Illinois Forrest O. Gibbs, 87, of Moline, died Wednesday, November 27, 2002, in Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. Services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. The Reverend Dan Cole, First Baptist Church, Moline, will officiate. Doric Lodge #319, AF & AM, will conduct Masonic funeral services at the same time. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Visitation is from Noon until funeral time Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the church. Forrest Odell Gibbs was born August 24, 1915, near Stoutsville in Monroe County, Missouri, the son of L. C. and Effie (Carman) Gibbs. He married Lola Crow on December 31, 1941, in Paris, Missouri. She died November 7, 1981. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during WW II. He was employed at K & K Hardware, Bettendorf, for 15 years, retiring in 1980. He previously worked at the former Moline Building Center for six years. Forrest was a member of First Baptist Church, Moline, Doric Lodge #319, AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline, American Legion Post #246, Moline, Travelers Protective Association, and AARP. Forrest is survived by a son, Larry R. Gibbs of Crete, Illinois, and a daughter, Marilyn K. Gibbs of Moline. He was preceded in death by his wife and four brothers.
