Forrest L. Ledbetter, 84, of Silvis, Illinois, died Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Celebrate Senior Living of Moline. 

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2024, at Crosstown Baptist Church, Silvis, Illinois. A private burial will take place at the Rock Island National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the church. 

Forrest Leon Ledbetter was born January 9, 1940 in Mattoon, Illinois, the son of Forrest Chester and Marcia Rose (Martin) Ledbetter. He was united in marriage to Melveda Adams on February 14, 1965, in Sullivan, Illinois. 

Leon proudly served in the United States Army from 1961 until 1964. He worked as a radio dispatcher for Sullivan Police Department. He retired from Quantum Chemical Co. in Clinton, Iowa after 30 years. 

He accepted the Lord in 1963 and served at Crosstown Baptist Church, in Silvis, Illinois. He enjoyed Thursday afternoon meetings with friends.

Leon is survived by his wife, Melveda; sons, Tim (Pamela) Ledbetter and Kerry Ledbetter; daughter, Regina (Steve) Dawson; grandchildren, Sarah Bell, Carisa (Kyle) Schmidtke, Ericka Dawson, Kara (David) Stadstad, and Aaron Dawson; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Ezekiel, Zander, Zayia, and Rayna; and sisters, Lois Bolin and Sherry (Doug) Farris. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother, Jane. 

He is near to the Heart of God.
