Forrest K. Farwell

Orion, Illinois Forrest Kay Farwell, son of Clyde and Erma (Liggett) Farwell, was born on May 27, 1936, at Riverton, Iowa. He passed away on June 29,2002, in Moline, Illinois following an extended illness. Forrest grew up on the family farm near Sidney, Iowa, the youngest of six children. He attended the Sidney Community Schools and graduated from Sidney High School with the Class of 1954. He entered the United States Army serving for two years, from 1956 - 1958, Most of his service was spent in Chicago, Illinois. He later went to the University of Iowa, where he graduated with an accounting degree in 1963. In June of 1963, Forrest began his career with John Deere & Company, working as an auditor in the branch internal audit department. During his first three years with John Deere, Forrest spent most of his time traveling. From 1966-1968 he served as auditor with John Deere (Pty.) Limited in South Africa. He then served on the Deere & Company audit staff until being appointed as Controller of the Lansing Sales Branch, Lansing, Michigan, in 1969. In June of 1971, Forrest was appointed Controller of John Deere Company, Atlanta, Georgia. Then in 1976, he became Marketing Service Advisor in Moline, Illinois, where he served until his retirement in June of 1992 after 29 years of service with Deere & Company. Throughout his career, Forrest traveled around the world, visiting places such an China, Hong Kong, Hawaii, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Greece, Japan, India and Europe, as well as the Continental United States. Forrest spent the last ten years of his retirement enjoying his farm near Orion, Illinois. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his friends and family. Preceding Forrest in death were his parents, his sister, Norma Jeanne, and brother, Robert. Survivors include his brothers, Jack Farwell and his wife Ruby of Shenandoah, IA, Walter Farwell of Tipton, IA, and Rex Farwell of Orion, IL; six nieces; four nephews; many great nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. At Forrest's request, there will be no services. Burial will be in the Sidney Cemetery at Sidney, Iowa. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, is in charge of the local arrangements.
