The former Fay Ellen Fagan was born November 11, 1948, in Davenport, the daughter of Robert and Louise (Warner) Fagan. She married Bruce Mabis and from the union came their daughter, Rebecca.
Fay graduated from Bettendorf High School and went on to become a critical care nurse in the ICU at Illini Hospital, Silvis, for over 25 years. She stayed close with her fellow nurses and looked forward to their monthly get-togethers.
She was an active member of Vineyard Church of Davenport. She considered her friends in the Life Group at the church to be her second family. She was a gifted crocheter, knitter and quilter, belonging to the Mississippi Valley Quilter’s Guild. She was also a fantastic cook and animal lover.
Fay had a special bond with her grandson, Nathanael Mabis, whom she adored.
Fay is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Mabis of Hampton, Illinois; her grandson, Nathanael Mabis of Hampton; siblings, Kathy Robertson of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Richard (Teri) Fagan of Savannah, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Dixie Rounds and Sharon Hass.
