William F. ?Bill? Stevens, 84, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, July 12, 2010, in Trinity Rock Island.
Services are 10 a.m. Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend A. Parker Lewis III officiating. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, Illinois Heart Association, or Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
William Fredrick Stevens was born September 25, 1925, in Walnut, Illinois, the son of Percy and Clara Schnowski Stevens. He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II. He married Mary Jane Knaack on June 20, 1953, in Moline.
He was an optician at Rock Island Optometric for 24 years, retiring in 1992, and previously worked at Blackhawk Optical Company. He was a life-long Chicago White Sox and Bears fan, enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and tinkering, and loved his dogs.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons and their spouses, Mark and Nancy Stevens of Moline and Jeff and Sue Stevens of Colona; four grandchildren, Billy Stevens and his wife Beatrize, Doug Stevens and his girlfriend Samantha Gunnison, Brittney Stevens and Tom Stevens; and three great-grandchildren, Samantha, Maya, and Nathela Stevens. He was preceded in death by one sister and three brothers.
