Mildred F. Nush, 86, of Geneseo, Illinois, died Saturday, August 9, 2008, in her home.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2008, from 2 until 6 p.m. at her daughter?s home, 114 South Side Drive, Geneseo. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is entrusted with assisting the family.
The former Mildred Fern McCommon was born December 9, 1921, in Pueblo, Colorado, the daughter of Paul and Gladys (Noel) McCommon. She grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and later worked in Alameda, California. She married Clifton D. Bethel in 1954 and he died in 1978. She married Joseph Nush in 1982 and he died in 2005.
She was an elder and a member of Sparta Presbyterian Church and Sparta Women?s Club in New Jersey, and had been a leader in both the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel, was an artist, and enjoyed playing Bridge, bowling and cooking. Her special gift was her generous heart, and she will be remembered by those whose lives she touched as a kind, compassionate, and loving person.
Mildred is survived by two children, Dr. Clifton D. Bethel and his wife Lena of Davenport, Iowa, and Lisa Shaffer and her husband Randy of Geneseo; five grandchildren, Mary Ellen Kibling of Davenport, Sarah Bethel of Silvis, Illinois, Destiny DeBuysere and her husband Sean of Des Moines, Iowa, Tyler Person and his wife Elizabeth of Suffolk, Virginia, and Callie R. Person of Geneseo; and two great-grandsons, Jordan and Kyle.
