Alfred F. Martorano, 87, formerly of Three Rivers, California, died Saturday, March 20, 2010, in his daughter?s home in Coal Valley, Illinois.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer?s Association. The family is being served by Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley.
He was born August 24, 1922, in Trinidad, Colorado, the son of Dominic and Lena Helen Gagliardi Martorano. He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II, and married Mary Ann Otis in 1951 in Los Angeles, California. He was a bio-chemist in California for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; ten children and their spouses, Frank and Faith Martorano of Ringwood, New Jersey, Ann Marie and Scott Powers of Santa Barbara, California, Christine and Jon Martinez of San Diego, California, Theresa and Brad Keleher of Coal Valley, Illinois, John and Janet Martorano of Albany, California, Joann Martorano of Portland, Oregon, Philip and Mary Martorano of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Beth and Bryan Smith of Aptos, California, Joseph Martorano of San Francisco, California, and Stephen and Lucila Martorano of Santa Barbara; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven sisters, and one brother. He was preceded in death by a son, Jamie Martorano.
