Burial is in National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, where she was a member. Mrs. Scritchfield died Saturday, September 8, 2001, in Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island. The former Freda Carol Freeman was born June 16, 1934, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Hazel (Haite) Freeman. She married Rex C. Scritchfield on June 27, 1953, in Rock Island. Carol, as a hobby, was devoted to her family. She would also attend most any yard sale she could find, and whatever she bought she always had her family in mind. As of the last couple of years, she was in contention with having the latest in Beanie Babies. Most of all, Rex and their home in Coal Valley was her pride and joy. Carol is survived by her husband of 48 years, Rex; three sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and Jill Scritchfield of Coal Valley, Tim and Keri Scritchfield of Sherrard, and Mark and Kathy Scritchfield of Coal Valley; eight grandchildren, Kimberly, Samantha, Daniel, Kristen, Stephanie, and Stephen Scritchfield, Jeremy Duncheon, and Robert Henderson; four great-grandchildren, Quentin, Alex, Xavier, and Tahlyn Scritchfield; and a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Phyllis Freeman of Carthage, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dean and Dale Freeman. This memorial may be viewed, and condolences sent to the family, at www.TrimbleFuneralHomes.com. END OF OBITUARY
