Evelyn Spitznas Norman

July 21, 1917 — March 10, 2014

Evelyn Spitznas Norman, 96, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, March 10, 2014, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Illinois.

Services are 11 a.m. Monday at First United Presbyterian Church, Moline, with The Reverend Greg Graybill officiating. Visitation is one hour before the services. A light luncheon will be served at the church following burial in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements.

The former Evelyn J. Kennedy was born July 21, 1917, on a farm near Viola, Illinois, to Richard Royce and Jessie Mae Williams. She and her brother rode a pony to their one-room schoolhouse. She was graduated from UTS High School and attended Monmouth College. She married Paul Spitznas on August 8, 1936. He died in 1978. She married George Douglas Norman in 2000. She was an outside teller at South East National Bank for 12 years. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Moline for 84 years. She served as deacon, member of Rebekkah circle and Silver Lining Circle of Kings Daughters.
Evelyn loved her family and enjoyed supporting their activities.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, Doug Norman; three children and their spouses, Peggy and Bob Harmon of Bluffton, South Carolina, Richard and Margaret Spitznas of Puyallup, Washington, and John Spitznas of Rockford, Illinois; grandchildren, Brad Harmon, Doug and Tracey Harmon, Eileen and Scott Bjornstrom, Karl and Becky Spitznas, Paul and Amy Spitznas, Lindsey and Mark Hartwig, and Lauren Spitznas; 14 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law William and Gaynell Spitznas, Dubuque. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Schermerhorn and brother, Rev. Steward Kennedy.
