Evelyn Hultgren Woehr, 96, of Moline, Illinois, long-time community volunteer, died Monday, May 22, 2006, in Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church, Moline, with Rev. Mark E. Gehrke officiating. Burial is in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church Building Fund or Christian Friendliness.
The former Evelyn Elizabeth Christine Hultgren was born February 26, 1910, in Andover, Illinois, the daughter of Elvin and Esther (Sand) Hultgren. She married William A. Woehr on June 14, 1937, in Andover. He died May 23, 1998. She graduated from the former Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Moline, in 1931. She was staff nurse at the former Lutheran Hospital in the newborn nursery from 1953 until her retirement in 1968.
After retiring, she volunteered at Lutheran Hospital for many years, was an officer in the hospital?s Emily Clareen Circle, and worked as a volunteer with Visiting Nurses and Homemakers Association for 25 years and Pathway Hospice for 10 years. She was given the Ageless Achiever award by the Western Illinois Area Council on Aging in 1985, received WHBF?s Good Neighbor Award in 1987, and was named the Volunteer of the Year by the VNHA in 1988. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, Moline, which she joined in 1971, and was interested in Christian Friendliness and it?s auxiliary, and Church Women United.
Evelyn is survived by three children and their spouses, Pamela and Jerry Orrison of Chillicothe, Illinois, Gaylen R. Woehr of Moline, and William A. II and Deborah Woehr of Rogers, Arkansas; six grandchildren and their spouses, Randal and Ann Orrison, Kendal and Sajee Orrison, KaiAnn and Brian Holt, Matthew Hamernick, Kimlyn and Michael Meyer, and Angela and Ryan Beintema; seven great-grandchildren; a niece, Jan Hanson of California, and a foster niece, Linn Leander of Cambridge. She was preceded in death by her husband, and two brothers, Marvin and Chester Hultgren.
