Evelyn G. Engstrom, 95, a life long resident of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Friday, November 30, 2012, in her home.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Robert Hagen officiating. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to the church. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, is serving the family.
The former Evelyn Grace Nightingale was born September 14, 1917, in Coal Valley, the daughter of Henry and Nellie Kraklow Nightingale. She was employed by Moline School District #40 for 27 years, retiring as Moline High School Registrar in 1982. She was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley, and was a member of the church?s Mary Martha Guild. She was most proud of raising her five sons as a single mother, loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved Christmas.
Evelyn is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Sandy Engstrom, Randy and Bonnie Engstrom, Stan and Julie Engstrom, and Dennis and Linda Engstrom, all of Coal Valley, and Sarah Schafer of Sherrard, Illinois; 13 grandchildren and their spouses, Tim and Sandra Engstrom, Tammy and Mark Saelens, Tara Engstrom-Watt and her husband Bret, Trisha Engstrom-Gehring and her husband Mike, Heather and Matt Johnson, Heidi and Jeff Bernhardt, Holly and Sergio Mercado, Kim and Terry McMaster, Corey Engstrom, Ashley and Sarah Engstrom, Kiel Engstrom, Samantha and Jason Cochuyt, and Stephanie and Brent Rueb; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Engstrom; four sisters, Helen Reiling, Dorothy Willhouse, Madeline Sievers, and Edna DeBaillie, and three brothers, John, Carl, and Bill Nightingale.
