Eva E. Tharp

Keithsburg, Illinois Eva E. Tharp, 90, of Muscatine, formerly of Keithsburg died Monday, November 5, 2001 at the Muscatine Care Center. Funeral services for Eva will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at the First Christian Church, Keithsburg. Burial will be in Greenmound Cemetery, Keithsburg. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at the church. Memorials may be made to Keithsburg Fire And Ambulance or Muscatine Care Center. Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo is in charge of arrangements. Eva was born on February 28, 1911 in Bedford, Iowa to William and Lilly Belle (Dickert) Kenney. She married Kenneth S. Tharp on December 29, 1928 in Monmouth, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 29, 1988. Eva farmed near Keithsburg with her husband. They also managed several restaurants, including the Old Highway Inn in Viola and the Pancake Corral in Colorado Springs. Eva enjoyed taking care of her home, sewing and was a great cook, canning hundreds of quarts of vegetables every summer. She also enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Keithsburg. Eva is survived by 5 daughters and their husbands: Dorothy and John Harader of Aledo; Esther and Richard Gibbs of New Boston; Doris Whitesell of Rock Island; Marna and Gene Stewart of Keithsburg; Mary Gilmour of Rock Island; 5 sons and their wives: Roger and Linda Tharp of Aledo; Marvin Tharp of Taylor Ridge; Jim and Peggy Tharp of Biggsville; Irvin and Kay Tharp of Keithsburg; Franklin and Becky Tharp of Seaton; a daughter-in-law, Donna Tharp of Viola; a sister, Alice Muhlenburg of Aledo and 39 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. Eva was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Lyle Tharp; brothers, Tom, Wayne and Chester Kenney; Sisters, Helen La Rue, Effie Willitts and Jenny Thurston; 3 grandsons and 1 great-grandson.
