H. Eugene Godwin, 86, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, October 20, 2008, in Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2008, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Cremation will follow the service with burial at a later date in Morning Sun Cemetery, Morning Sun, Iowa. Visitation is one hour before the services.
Harold Eugene Godwin was born November 30, 1921, in Stuart, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Mary (Campbell) Godwin. He married Lois Marie Kerr on September 26, 1948, in Wapello. She died September 22, 2008. He served in the U.S. Army in the Philippines during WW II. He was an electrician out of IBEW Local #145, last working at Baer Electric, Milan.
He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Eugene is survived by four children and their spouses, Dave and Linda Godwin of Marion, Iowa, Jan and Richard Brannen of Coal Valley, John and Diane Godwin of Moline, and Steven and Mary Godwin of Blue Grass, Iowa; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty Brown of Wapello, Iowa, and Kathryn Lauderback of Fenton, Missouri. He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Godwin.
