M. Eudema Huffman, 86,of Moline, Illinois, well-know interior designer, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, in Trinity Pathway Hospice at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
The former Myrtie Eudema Overstreet was born September 9, 1921, in Macon County, Missouri, the daughter of William Arthur and Susanna (Dover) Overstreet. She married Eugene E. Huffman on August 21, 1940, in Kirksville, Missouri. He died September 10, 1999. She was a licensed interior designer from 1946 until her retirement in 2004. She owned and operated Eudema?s Interiors in Moline from 1967 to 1984, in Brooksville, Florida, from 1984 to 2002, and in LaPlata, Missouri from 2002 until 2004. She previously worked at the former Isabel Shop in Moline for 20 years.
Eudema was past president of Jayceettes, and a member of Interior Design Association and First Christian Church, Moline, where she was past president of the Women?s Association. She taught adult education at Blackhawk College and Design Basics at St. Ambrose University, and was a participating designer in the Symphony of Homes. She was proud to have done design work for many prominent area businesses and families.
Eudema is survived by three children and their spouses, Larry and Judith Huffman of Hallsville, Missouri, Sharon and Geoffrey Hicks of Colona, Illinois, and Susan and Rick Riggs of Moline; six grandchildren and their spouses, Kirk and Beverly Huffman, Wendy and Rob Lochrie, Patrick and Jennifer Hicks, Andrew Hicks, Jennifer Hetzel and Nicholaus Hetzel; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her son, Dwight Huffman, two sisters, Claudia Ratliff and Zella Begole, and a brother, W. A. Overstreet.
