Estill R. Arnold, 95, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, March 28, 2014, in Rosewood Care Center, Moline.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Church of the Quad Cities, with The Reverend Tim Bowman officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, with a Time of Sharing at 6:30 p.m., at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
Estill Ray Arnold was born October 14, 1918, in Memphis, Missouri, to Emmett and Grace Estill Arnold. He served in the U. S. Army, in the Pacific Theater, during WW II. He married Dorothy Miller in 1941, in Little York, Illinois, and they later divorced. He married Norma Price in 1970 in Moline, and they later divorced. He was the owner of Arnold Tree Service and Landscaping, covering most of central Illinois and eastern Iowa, for many years. After retiring, he volunteered doing lawn work at Westside Assembly of God, Davenport, Iowa, and Calvary Church of the Quad Cities, where he was a member. He had a strong faith and loved reading the Bible, was a life-long Cardinals fan, and enjoyed rides in the country, Whitey's Ice Cream, family cookouts, and croquet. He had a great sense of humor.
Estill is survived by seven children and their spouses, Mary Arnold of Galesburg, Illinois, Eldon Arnold and his wife Bev of Peoria, Illinois, Charlotte Pier and her husband Tom of Circleville, Ohio, Pamela Medas and her husband Michael of Columbus, Ohio, Rhonda Gourley and her husband Dennis of New Braunfels,Texas, Lori Graham-Sullivan and her husband Greg Sullivan of Moline, and Christa Kay and her partner Johnna of Rock Island; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, William Arnold of Kewanee, Illinois; and a special friend, Lula Minor of East Moline. He was preceded in death by a son, Jim Arnold, and brothers, Richard, Harold, and Paul Arnold.
