The former Esther Anagnes Needham was born December 14, 1918, in Newton, Illinois, the daughter of John William and Nora (Matheny) Needham. She married Ivan Richard Lamport on May 30, 1940, in Peoria, Illinois. She graduated from Brown Business School in Peoria, going on to work in the training department at Caterpillar for 10 years.
Esther was a wonderful cook, and was a repetitive ribbon winner for her candy at the Illinois State Fair. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Esther.
She is survived by her beloved husband of over 76 years, Ivan; children, Michael Lamport of Gold River, California, John Lamport, Marilyn and Douglas Blauser of Kansas City, Missouri, and Janet and Greg Pelz of Washington, Illinois; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Marianne Shaffer of Omaha, Nebraska.
