Elna Carpenter

Davenport, Iowa Elna Carpenter, 89, of Davenport, formerly of Moline, died Saturday, September 18, 2004, in the Kahl Home, Davenport, where she was in care for the past four days. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Moline Memorial Park. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the Kahl Home. The former Elna Huff was born March 16, 1915, in Havana, Illinois, the daughter of Jess and Nonie (Lowe) Huff. She married Basil "Carp" Carpenter on February 17, 1932, in Havana. He died April 6, 1994. She was co-owner with her husband of the former Einfeldt Concrete Products, Moline, and worked at the former Scottsdale Fabrics, Moline. She was a former girl scout leader and Sunday school teacher. She loved to read and play cards. Elna is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Maurice Frank and Linda Carpenter of Buena Vista, Colorado, and David and Rose Carpenter of Colona; daughters and sons-in-law, Dorothy and Walter Stewart of Mitchellville, Iowa, Kathryn and Ted Olson of Davenport, Marjorie and Barry Bisschop of Taylor Ridge, Lois Jeanne and John West of Riverview, Florida, and Robert Cook of Moline; 26 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughters, Betty Cook and Cheryl Kay Carpenter; a grandson; sisters, Maureen Gremanis, Florence Kinman, and Annie Huff; and brothers, Troy and Harold Huff.
