Ellen R. Vonderhaar

Ellen R. "Peggy" Vonderhaar, 96, formerly of Moline, died Wednesday, December 25, 2013, in Emerald Isle Assisted Living, Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

Services are 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline, with The Reverend Florene Scott officiating. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to the church. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is in charge of arrangements.

The former Ellen Ruth Swenson was born February 17, 1917, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Herman and Hallie Ervin Swenson. She married Gerald Vonderhaar on May 2, 1937, in Geneseo, Illinois. He died April 8, 1995. She was a seamstress at Chateau Boutique in Rock Island for six years. She was a member of the church, and a former member of King's Daughters, and Moline Women's Club. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards.

Peggy is survived by two daughters, Mary Farrankop and Susan Henry and her husband Richard Nicoletti, all of California; a son-in-law, Kenneth Bowles of Iowa; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Kristina Bowles; sisters, Violet Grebbe and Dorothy Mellinger; and brothers, Charles, Willard, John and Kenneth Swenson.
