Ellen I. York

Moline, Illinois Services for Ellen I. York, 86, of Moline, are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hope United Church of Christ, Moline. The Reverend A. Parker Lewis III will officiate. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, 601 21st Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church or Beacon of Hope Hospice. Mrs. York died Friday, July 19, 2002, in Bettendorf Health Care Center, Bettendorf, Iowa. The former Ellen Isabel Garrison was born April 17, 1916, in Rock Island, the daughter of Philar Samuel and Mable Virginia (Remley) Garrison. She married Raymond Walter York on April 24, 1937, in Rock Island. He died August 25, 1992. She was a homemaker, and had worked at Grants Department Store in Moline, Younkers in Rock Island, and Miller's Florist in Moline. She was an active member of Hope United Church of Christ and the ladies circle of the church. She loved to play cards, and do ceramics and was an excellent seamstress. Her grandchildren say she was "a wonderful grandmother." Ellen is survived by three children and their spouses, Edward and Marge York of Davenport, Betty York of Moline, and Donna and Darwin Knudtson of Moline; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Kerry York, C. J. York, Kim and Doug Alexander, Renee Kish, Tracy Kish, Kevin and Lee Anne Waugaman, Erik Waugaman, and Andrea and Rick Dryoel; six step-grandchildren and their spouses, Kyle and Jennifer Krier, Kathy and Tracy Wingert, Dean and Patsy Knudtson, Paula and Gene Moller, Julie and Ron Brummet, and Sandra and Travis Smith; nine great-grandchildren; 19 step-great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Irene Garrison of Rock Island; and a sister, Etta Cotterman of Sydney, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Bert, Raymond, and Bill Garrison, and two sisters, Bernice York and Irene Dunn.
